Weekly Photo Challenge: The Hue of You | Green Beam and Crystal

This is my 2nd entry in wordpress.com’s weekly photo challenge for 10/18/13—Weekly Photo Challenge | The Hue of You. For this post, I selected 5 images from a series that includes dozens of photos. In the future, I may post other images from the same series, as it’s one of my favorite collections.

These 5 photos feature quartz crystals infused with a particular wavelength of green light, along with a little reflection and refraction. Others in the seriesinclude a variety of additional effects such as diffusion, scattering, and fluorescence. Though they aren’t related to any specific story or writer, I tagged them sci-fi since I was trying to suggest science-fiction and technology.

  1. Joe, this series of photos, and others like it, is one of the reasons I chose you for the Virtual Blog Tour. Absolutely beautiful! Makes me want to incorporate some of my crystals into my style of photos/digital art.

    • Thanks Debbie. I’m glad to hear you say that, because these kinds of photos/images are my favorite to produce and share. When I sit down to publish a new post, I often browse through 100’s if not 1000’s of these trying to select one (or a few) to post.
I should have added a 5th question to my Virtual Blog Tour post.
Q: How do you select or decide what you’ll post?
A: I sit down at my Mac, browsing through thousands of images and other files, trying to pick something and spending way too much time on the decision.

  2. I really like this series of shots. I love the way that you’ve captured not only the colour, but the way the light interacts with the crystal. A striking series of images.
